Calling all writers! Do you like to write fantasy? Do you dabble in short stories? Do you like teasing tales of omens, oracles, and prophecies? Then Periapt Press would like to invite you to submit to our first fall anthology, Omens of the Forgotten Kingdom.
So, a few quick things about how we do submissions. First and foremost, there is no fee. That would be crazy. We’re not a non profit, this isn’t a charity event. Secondly, we currently pay $25 per story (plus an author copy) for accept works. While the goal is to eventually offer standard SFWA rates, we’re just not there yet. Here are the rules for this particular collection.
Guidelines for Omens of the Forgotten Kingdom:
- The submission window is June 15 – August 10, 2024 (for publication in late September 2024).
- The setting must be in a secondary world. While all submissions to Periapt Press should be some form of fantasy, for this volume we are looking for a more traditional fantasy setting.
- The theme for this anthology is omens, oracles, and portents – full of good fortune or bad, promising or foreboding. We look forward to seeing your interpretation.
- We ask that you aim for no more than an R rating. Sex scenes are acceptable but should be more romance than erotica. No rape, gore, incest, or child abuse.
